John’s journey to The Haven began with a desire for tranquility and a passion for hospitality. After discovering the rolling hills and quiet bays of Katikati, he set out to create an Airbnb where guests could experience the same restoration he found here. Warm, friendly, and deeply connected to the land, (John is a farmer!) John is the heart of The Haven, ensuring every visitor feels right at home in the New Zealand countryside.

Haku Pathway - Katikati
Discover the serenity of John's favorite walking track.The Haiku Pathway: Located right in the town center along the Uretara Stream, this 2 km loop is famous for being the world's only outdoor haiku park. You will find over 40 haiku poems carved into giant river boulders. A 45m suspension bridge connects it to Henry Road.
Bowentown Walk Lookout
John loves Bowentown lookout it offers stunning views of Bowentown Harbour, Waihi Beach, and the surrounding area. On a clear day, you can see as far as Mount Maunganui and the Kaimai Ranges.
Bowentown Lookout is a great place to visit for people of all ages. It is a popular spot for picnics, walks, and simply enjoying the views.
